Tropical fruits are the most commonly consumed fruits in southern Chinese cities such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Dongguan, and others. China imports a large quantity of tropical fruits from ASEAN countries under a 2003 trade agreement known as the “Early Harvest Program.” Except for the Philippines, nine countries signed the agreement in this program. The main goal of this program is to increase bilateral trade through the creation of a Free Trade Area (FTA).
Tropical fruit production peaked at 10.4 million tons in 2004 and increased to 14.5 million ton in 2009. According to a report, China imported 380,000 tons of mangoes, guavas, and mangosteens in 2020, making it the world’s second largest importer.
People in Japan makes different types of products in their daily life like Chirashi-Zushi topped with mango and papaya, papaya and mango dessert, Japanese style papaya salad, Pineapple as shima, peach, and snack style. They also make different types of juices from these tropical fruits
terms of the most powerful and largest exporter of tropical fruits, Japan is at the top of the list, having spent nearly $1.5 billion in 1998. Japan imported $132 million worth of pineapples in 2018. Mandarin and orange were once the most popular tropical fruits, but with a population of over 125 million, pineapple, papaya, and banana are now the most popular fruits in Japan.
In a conclusion, China and Japan both countries largely rely on tropical fruit markets to meet their people needs and it also have giant part in their growing economy
